  • Welcome!

We can't wait to celebrate with you! In anticipation of the big day, we have created this wedding website to keep you up to date on all the details of our wedding.

  • Hello!

It's the end of the semester. Although you tried your best to keep up with deadlines for papers and exams throughout the semester, you feel unprepared for finals week. Your friends say all-nighters are a great way to cram in information right before an exam. You like your sleep, and you've heard that all-nighters aren't that effective, but you are short on time. Why not go ahead and pull an all-nighter? Here are a few reasons:

    Physical and mental stress

Sleep deprivation can have both short- and long-term effects on your physical and emotional state, and on your ability to learn. Studies have shown that sleep deprivation can negatively affect your memory, ability to focus, energy level, mental state, body weight, and overall physical health.

    Memory

Sleep deprivation can cause declines in your ability to remember things and can therefore make your studying less effective. Memories are solidified during sleep, so if you don't get enough, your memory is not as effective. In addition, research example of research proposal that information is retained best when taken in small bits, and that we tend to more easily remember the first and last thing we hear in a given time period. It is much better to study a little bit at a time over a long period of time. When you are trying to do a longer study session to review, make sure to take more breaks (including sleep breaks).

    Ability to focus

Adrenaline and stress hormones are produced when you are deprived of sleep, and they can impair your ability to focus. Although that's bad enough while you are studying, it would be even worse to be unable to focus during your exam!

    Energy level

The average adult needs 7-8 hours of sleep in a 24-hour period. If you don't get enough sleep, you will likely be tired. You really don't want to fall asleep during your exam or fall asleep in the wee hours of the morning and then oversleep. There are all sorts of horror stories of students missing their morning exams because they tried to pull an all-nighter. Caffeine and other stimulants can make you alert, but they do not help your ability to memorize, interpret data, or make good judgements.

In addition, using caffeine to stay awake may change your mental state. A high intake of caffeine can lead to anxiety, disordered thoughts, and other issues that can impair your ability to perform well on an exam.
