Nell & Ark

COVID Update: We recognize that the growing rates of COVID, especially the Delta Variant, are a major cause for concern. While we understand that all of our guests will have been vaccinated, masks will be required when not eating or drinking in order to cooperate with the latest mask mandate in Oregon. The event will be outside, and we anticipate around 35 guests. We look forward to seeing you in the safest way possible!

Rescheduling Update: Given the recent improvements with the COVID situation and our guest's diligence in getting vaccinated, we are on schedule to celebrate our marriage on September 5th, 2021!

As many of you know, in 2020, we made the decision to elope on our original date of September 6th, 2020 so while we missed all of you tremendously on that day, we can't wait to share this belated celebration with you!

Like any good, self-respecting, Millenial couple, Ark and Nell met online. Nell had recently moved to Texas from Bellingham, WA, and had made wonderful friends, but hadn’t yet met that special someone. Ark had a new job at PepsiCo, new house, and new dog, but had not yet found someone to share his life with.

In Summer 2014, each of them logged on to OkCupid and began to chat. They talked about travel, and dogs, and favorite Dallas spots, and very soon agreed to meet in person for a drink. Their first date at Flying Saucer included darts, trivia, and some immediate chemistry. He noticed how well she got his sense of humor, and she noticed how much he appreciated good food. They immediately began their courtship.

When they initially met, both Nell and Ark were young professionals, each working 9 to 5 and climbing the corporate ladder. Within weeks of meeting, however, circumstances changed and they found themselves with opposite schedules. They made time for dates in between Nell completing her Anthropology degree and bartending. Ark always made sure his favorite co-ed had plenty of fried rice to eat and they celebrated together when Nell finished up in 2016 and started at CitySquare.

Summer of 2016 also marked the time when Ark and Nell decided to move in together, combining their animal family under one roof. Since then, their dogs and cat have enjoyed living in Plano. Life has been good, with many hikes in the local nature areas, delicious meals, adventurous trips and wonderful times spent with dear friends.

It was in September 2018, that Ark decided to make their life together permanent. Next to a river near Mosfell in Iceland, Ark surprised Nell with a beautiful proposal. She immediately accepted and they spent the next week blissfully happy as they explored the Netherlands.

Ark and Nell are both so thankful for all of you who will be helping them celebrate their love on September 5th. They look forward to sharing their wedding day with you as well as having you as a part of their married life together.
