Explore WNC

We love Western North Carolina & hope you enjoy your stay. Here are some of our favorite things to do!

  • Eats

Our favorite place for breakfast is Abeja's Cafe in South Asheville.

Our favorite place to grab lunch or dinner is Nine Mile. They have a few locations and they are really great about accommodating special dietary restrictions.

Our favorite places for desserts are Old Europe Pastries, Whit's Frozen Custard (closest to camp!), French Broad Chocolate Lounge, and Crave Dessert Bar if you're feelin' fancy!

THE best burger in Asheville is at Smoky Park Supper Club right on the French Broad River in Asheville.

Our favorite tacos reside at Taco Temple. We have tried just about everything on the menu and it's all amazing! They also have yummy vegetarian options.

A few other classic Asheville dining options: Buxton Hall BBQ, Biscuit Head, Sunny Point Cafe, Tupelo Honey, White Duck Taco (5 miles from camp!), Itto Ramen Bar. These places tend to be on the busier side, FYI!

Flat Rock also has a few food options in their cute little downtown area, just 3 miles from camp.

  • Drinks

Point Lookout Vineyards is our favorite place to go wine tasting in Hendersonville because of their beautiful panoramic views of the mountains. They also have food and interesting meads you'll have to try! Located about 30 minutes from camp.

Bold Rock has the best ciders in town and great food! Their Mills River location is only 20 minutes from camp and features a huge outdoor space with picnic tables and fire pits. They also have a new downtown Asheville location.

You've probably heard of Sierra Nevada Brewing, but did you know they have a location here in WNC? We love their HUGE outdoor space, yard games and walking trails & you can also take a free self guided tour or one of several paid tours. Their beers are amazing and their delicious food is a little more upscale than your typical brewery. Located about 30 minutes from camp.

Wicked Weed's Funkatorium is dedicated to Sours and other funky beers. They have some food and a great outdoor space to hang out + you can also take a tour of the brewery! It is located in Asheville, about 40 minutes from camp. There are also A TON of other fun places within walking distance of the Funkatorium.

  • Hikes

Looking Glass Rock Trail near Brevard is a 6.2 mile out and back trail with a beautiful view at the top and is about 30 minutes from camp.

DuPont State Forest is one of our favorite places to go see beautiful waterfalls and ride mountain bikes! There are a TON of trail options and is about 15 minutes from camp. This is also where the Hunger Games was filmed :)

Jump off Rock is less of a hike and more of a scenic overlook. The view is only a few yards from the parking area. A few of our engagement pictures were taken here!

There are also plenty of hiking and biking trails right at camp!
